| Data Governance Winter 2010 (Wilshire)
Orlando, FL Dec 8 – 10, 2010
Data Governance is one of the few meetings focused on this important topic, and although the mid-year meeting hasn’t run for the past 2 years, Wilshire brought it back this year because of a somewhat stronger economy and strong demand from attendees. Wilshire was pleased with the attendance and the strong agenda they offered, which covered everything from the basics of what Data Governance is through to the governance of metadata.
This year attendance at the conference was a good mix of business and data people, due to a current trend to shift from DG from IT to the business side. This was evident by the fact that many of the business folks in attendance were largely starting from the bottom and needed solid introductory information about terminology, methods, and how to get started with a DG initiative. There is strong interest in this topic due to corporate governance changes and new regulations. Many of MK’s authors were speakers at the conference, including John Ladley, David Loshin, Malcolm Chisholm, and Peter Aiken.
The conference was sponsored by key players in the DG area, including IBM, Kalido, DataFlux, Collibra, Global IDS, and Trillium Software.
Tony Shaw, the director of Wilhsire was pleased with the conference and plans to run it again next year, in addition to the Summer Data Governance conference, which will be held in June 2011 in San Diego. |
